ASIC, Safety & Security Essentials

Airport Employees

ID & Access Services

To carry out your role at Adelaide or Parafield Airports, you may need an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC) and/or a Security Access Card (SAC) to access the necessary areas of the airport.

To help keep Adelaide and Parafield Airports safe and secure, anyone working in security-sensitive areas without an escort must hold a valid Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC), as required by Australian aviation legislation.

The ASIC program is an important part of airport security. It ensures that only those who’ve completed the necessary background checks can access secure zones independently.

All identification cards and access permissions are issued under strict conditions. It’s important to provide accurate and complete information during your application—missing or incorrect details may result in your ASIC being declined.

If you need an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC), please speak with your employer to get the details you’ll need for your online application.

You can find everything you need to know—including eligibility and required documents—on the AusCheck website.

We recommend applying for your Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC) as early as possible, ideally before starting work at the airport. The application process typically takes around 6 to 8 weeks.

Once your ASIC is approved, you’ll be required to complete the relevant induction modules based on your operational role, as outlined under the “Inductions” section.

Security Access Cards (SACs) are issued by Adelaide Airport Limited (AAL) to individuals holding a valid Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC) who require access to secure areas via security-controlled doors.

To apply, you can download the Security Access Card (SAC) Application Form or collect a copy in person from the Pass Issue Office, located at the Southern Screening Point on ground floor of the Terminal.

If you're a new company needing secure area access for your staff at Adelaide Airport, please contact the Pass Issue Office at the Southern Screening Point in the terminal. You can reach the team on +61 8 8154 9499, Monday to Friday during office hours, for guidance on the process.

Please refer to the Aviation Security Pricing Schedule for costs associated with Access Services.

A VIC is a temporary pass that allows access to secure areas of the airport for operational or lawful purposes. Visitors must be supervised at all times by someone holding a valid RED or GREY ASIC

VICs can be issued for up to 28 days in total over a 12-month rolling period at any one airport.

You can collect a VIC from the following locations at Adelaide Airport:

  • Southern Screening
  • Northern Screening
  • Gate J - Airside Entry

If you need VICs for three or more people, please complete a Visitor Identification Card Pre-Request Form and submit it at least 72 hours before the intended start date.

To receive a VIC, you must meet current regulatory ID requirements.
Please ensure all VICs are returned to one of the issuing locations before they expire.

Inductions

We’re committed to maintaining the safety, security, and operational integrity of all restricted zones within the terminal—including sterile, airside, and landside secure areas.

To ensure everyone is aligned with regulatory standards and airport protocols, anyone needing access to these areas must complete a mandatory briefing before entry.

Inductions have been designed to provide you with an understanding of the prerequisites and requirements associated with working at Adelaide Airport or Parafield Airport, as well as your responsibilities in fulfilling these requirements.

There are 4 different types of inductions depending on the location of works and or the type of work you are carrying out. These consist of:
