Proudly part of South Australia’s community

Working together to support people, culture, and place

At Adelaide Airport, we’re more than just an airfield, we are a proud part of the community. With over 10,000 people working across the Adelaide Airport precinct every day we are one of the largest single employment sites in the State. We’re committed to creating spaces where people connect, culture thrives, and purpose comes to life. We do this by celebrating our heritage and advancing reconciliation, showcasing South Australian arts and partnering with local groups to ensure we are contributing and responding to the needs of our community.

Community impact

Community impact

Airports are part of daily life, and we know they can have an impact on the people who live and work around us. That’s why we’re open about how we manage things like aircraft noise, flight curfews and safe drone use.

We work closely with Airservices Australia, airlines and government to minimise impacts wherever possible, and to keep you informed so you know what to expect.

Community consultation

Our principal forum is the Adelaide Airport Consultative Committee (AACC), which brings together community representatives, government, and stakeholders to discuss airport operations and their impacts, from aircraft noise and traffic access to car parking, landscaping, bike paths and developments.

Other committees also meet regularly with residents, councils, airlines and staff to share updates, raise questions and plan for the future.

Managing aircraft noise at Adelaide Airport

Managing aircraft noise at Adelaide Airport

Aircraft noise is an unavoidable part of aviation activity, but Adelaide Airport works closely with our industry partners to help minimise its impact on the community. Aviation supports essential business, tourism, freight and social connections across South Australia, and we’re committed to balancing this with our environmental and community responsibilities.

To learn more about how aircraft noise is managed in Adelaide

Airservices Australia provides a free online system called WebTrak where you can view the flight paths and noise data of aircraft arriving and departing within 55km of Adelaide Airport — from three months ago to just 40 minutes prior.

Other flight-tracking tools such as Flightradar24 can also help with noise-related enquiries.

For further detail on air traffic and aircraft movements at Adelaide Airport, visit the Airservices Australia website.

Reconciliation Action Plan

Reconciliation Action Plan

Adelaide Airport is on the Traditional Lands of the Kaurna people. Through our Reconciliation Australia endorsed Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), we are committed to strengthening relationships, respect and opportunities with First Nations communities, and walking together towards reconciliation.

Partnering with our community

Investing in people, place and purpose

We recognise our role as a neighbour as well as connecting South Australia to the world. We see community connection as central to our success, whether that’s through supporting local initiatives, being present at neighbourhood events, or volunteering on the ground. We’re proud to back programs that reflect our values and bring real benefits to the communities closest to us, as well as to South Australia more broadly

Our Focus Areas

Vibrant city: Through strategic partnerships, we contribute to South Australia’s vibrancy – supporting events and experiences that drive tourism to our state and bring that energy into our terminal experience.

Celebrating diversity: We champion inclusivity and align our partnerships that make a meaningful social impact – improving lives and fostering belonging across our community.

Community Investment Strategy

Our Community Investment Strategy ensures our support creates shared value, enhancing community benefit, employee engagement and alignment with our business goals. We focus on partnerships where our people, expertise and values can make the most meaningful impact.

We have recently partnered with organisations including KickStart for Kids, Trees for Life, and Youth Opportunities, to support delivery of programs that strengthen communities, support young people and protect our environment.

Plane spotting at Adelaide Airport

Love aviation up close?

Adelaide Airport has some of the best vantage points to watch aircraft take off and land. We’ve created safe, designated areas for aviation enthusiasts, families and photographers to enjoy. Flying drones near the airports is strictly regulated and these vantage points are for spotting planes only.

Spot 1: Harbour Town Precinct

Located just off Tapleys Hill Road, visiting Harbour Town gives you a clear view of aircraft on approach to Runway 23. There’s easy parking, making it a great option for families, plus you can enjoy the hospitality and retail offerings the precinct has to offer.

Spot 2: Netball SA Stadium / IKEA area

Near Mile End South, this spot offers views of planes taking off from Runway 05. With open space nearby, it’s perfect for spotting larger aircraft departures.

Spot 3: Tapleys Hill Road (Western side)

From the western side of the airport along Tapleys Hill Road, you can catch spectacular views of planes landing close overhead. It’s one of the best locations for photographers.

Spot 4: Richmond Road (Eastern side)

On the eastern boundary, Richmond Road gives you a front-row seat to aircraft taxiing and lining up for take-off. A favourite for those who like to be close to the action.
